Annual Performance Information
Small Screen - Big Talent!
Performance dates: Wednesday 22nd May and Thursday 23rd May
Dress Rehearsal – Tuesday 21st May
All JVS pupils take part in the performance, and while it may seem to be a little daunting for our younger students we have always found that they all have an amazing time on stage, and even though it is quite tiring for them, they have great memories of it!
Please speak to us if you have any concerns or need any more information of what will be involved, then if you still feel you do not wish your child to take part for whatever reason then just let us know and we will adjust your invoice accordingly.
Rehearsal Dates
Please find all scheduled rehearsal dates below, and try and be patient with us when picking up or dropping off at the studio.... we have a lot of work to get through and could run a little bit over at times.... we may also find we need to schedule extra rehearsals, or give you a different (earlier or later) pick up time but hope this doesn't interfere too much with your plans.
Thank you in advance for your patience.
We pride ourselves in being able to spend a very short time period putting together a spectacular show, however we do expect as much commitment as possible from all students to commit to every rehearsal that is scheduled.
We need the extra time to perfect the dances, and give the students as much confidence as possible when working on the routines they will be performing! It is also a 'team' commitment so that all children can be confident that they have rehearsed their numbers with their partners etc.
We all want to be part of a fantastic show, but cannot do it without your support and commitment.'
All rehearsals are at the studio until the dress rehearsal which will be at the Abbey Theatre.
Dance uniform/shoes are to be worn to keep everyone colour coordinated, and all shoes costumes, hair and makeup are required for the dress rehearsal at the Abbey Theatre.
Our younger students, or those just doing 1 dance, may not be required the full length of the rehearsals but we will keep everyone informed
Rehearsals will be charged in April as a flat fee of £30
You should provide snacks and drinks for your child, but nothing that could stain or mark a costume (ie blackcurrant juice or chocolate!) Please be aware that we do have some nut allergies so avoid anything containing nuts.

Costumes
We pride ourselves on our beautiful costumes and grooming in our show, and our students get very excited to wear their costumes on stage.
The costumes are purchased for each class a student takes part in, and we require a deposit of £25 per costume which will be added onto your February invoices, the remainder of the balance if any will be added to the March or April invoices depending on when they have been sourced and ordered. Please note we are not sure of the exact cost of each costume until they have been ordered, in the past they have varied in price but usually between £20-£45 depending on size etc. Obviously if the costume turns out to be cheaper than the deposit the difference will be refunded.
Please be aware that you are able to spread the costume costs over the coming weeks if you wish to, just speak to us in the office and you will then be able to make part payment of your invoice by making a BACS payment directly into the bank.
Please check your invoice for a breakdown of classes and make sure all classes you take part in are listed on there, as chances are if you are not enrolled in a class you won’t get a costume!
All costumes are then yours to keep for memories or resale.
We expect immaculate hair grooming and make up, and no jewellery should be worn on stage. Every student will wear a nude ‘under-over’ which we have for sale at the studio or on the website to preserve their modesty during any quick changes!
A finale show t-shirt which is worn in the finale by all performers will be available to purchase online via our dance store.
Show Day
PLEASE make sure the you put HAIR GEL, HAIR GRIPS AND HAIR PINS along with a comb/brush into their bags. If your child has a fringe then this must be gelled back, it is important that they all look neat and tidy onstage so please check that their ballet tights are clean, and if you have costume bits to sew on make sure that they are securely in place.....
Wherever possible could the children please arrive with hair and make up already done, and no jewellery should be worn (if ears are newly pierced, then please cover with Elastoplast). Make sure that no underwear can be seen under the costumes. The chaperones suggested putting a colouring book and pencils (not felt tips!!) or something to do into their bags, and also please send with your child a named plastic carrier bag so that all costume bits can be popped into the bag after they have used them!
Chaperones please note....Everyone that has quick changes will need to have their costumes at the side of stage so they can utilise the changing areas there.
We put together a running order with costumes and dance times etc so you know exactly how long they have to change...
CHILDREN MUST BE SIGNED IN AND OUT FROM THE theatre front DOOR TO AVOID ANY ISSUES WITH CHILD PROTECTION.
WE WILL BRING ALL CHILDREN THERE AND THEY WILL BE SIGNED OUT.
PLEASE DO NOT TRY TO COLLECT YOUR CHILDREN FROM inside the theatre.... WE WILL NOT LET ANY CHILDREN leave without signing out first
Please support your fellow performers/friends and watch the whole show!!!
Could you all check your accessories and costumes, and make sure everything is named!

Photocall/Filming:
There will be a date given in the schedule for HEADSHOTS this is where every student will be professionally photographed for the show programme, so on this date pay special attention to hair grooming!
We also have a weekend to photograph everyone individually in their full costumes and makeup and all of these photographs and headshots can be purchased digitally.
Our show is filmed by Pete’s Video Productions and this can be ordered directly through his company.
If there is any reason you do not want your child to be filmed or photographed please make that known to us even if you have already done so.
Chaperones/Helpers:
Our shows could never run without the help of our wonderful parents who we rely on to assist with costume changes, toilet trips and the general well-being of our students at the venue. So… if you have a current DBS or would like to renew your DBS we would ask you to consider putting yourself forward for the dress run and a show so we can be sure of enough help each night.
